Women in Scholarship Lecture Series kicks off Tuesday night

PLAINVIEW, TX — 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University hosts the first session of its annual Women in Scholarship Lecture Series from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in Harral Auditorium Complex Studio. The event is open to the community as well as 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ students, faculty, and staff, and will also be livestreamed on 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ’s YouTube channel.

The lecture series highlights the academic work and research contributions of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ female faculty across multiple disciplines. The Feb. 10 session features three presentations:

  • Dr. Kimberlee Mendoza, Professor of Humanities and Leadership, “Navigating the Self: The Crucible of Leadership in Joseph Conrad’s ‘The Secret Sharer.’”
    • Dr. Maria O’Connell, Professor of English, “The Quantum Gothic in Cormac McCarthy’s Final Novels.”
    • Dr. Cassie Collins, Professor of Counseling and Psychology, “Mental Health and Psychology.”

A second session in the series is scheduled for April 9 and will feature additional faculty presentations by Dr. Clancy Collum, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Deborah Kuhlmann, Professor of English; and Dr. Autumn Lass, Professor of History.

The Women in Scholarship Lecture Series is designed to foster academic dialogue, showcase faculty research, and provide opportunities for students and community members to engage with scholarly work being produced at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ.

Admission is free, and all interested individuals are encouraged to attend either in person or via the livestream.
