PLAINVIEW, TX — 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Baptist University launches the Bridging 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Student Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20, in Harral Memorial Auditorium.

Created by 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ senior Faith Wooley, the series brings together students from across academic disciplines to share research, insights, and personal expertise in a collaborative setting.

Inspired by the university’s 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Women in Scholarship Lecture Series, the event responds to a gap Wooley observed in interaction among academic schools on campus.

“Different schools of discipline here at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ don’t always have opportunities to interact,” Wooley said. “This event creates space for students to connect and gain a more well-rounded educational experience.”

The program features five student presenters representing multiple academic areas across the university, each delivering a 15-minute lecture.

Scheduled presenters include:

• Amanda Ragains of the Don A. Williams School of Education, presenting “The Nontraditional Students’ Guide to Time Management”;
• Mattison Goss of the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences, presenting “The Crisis of Prosecutorial Discretion: Power, Accountability, and Justice”;
• Trinity Davis of the School of Humanities and Leadership, presenting “Silks and Shackles: Symbolism and the Unseen in Jane Eyre”;
• Gabriel Medeiros of the School of Christian Studies, presenting “When Wealth Is Not the Problem: Idolatry in Mark 10”; and,
• Niklas Thiel of the School of Business, presenting “Applying Lean Consulting, Automation, and Software Solutions to Optimize the Workspace.”

Wooley said the event highlights the academic strength and diversity of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ students while creating opportunities for shared learning. “I am excited for this event’s ability to highlight bright students and integrate high-level and interesting information into every attendee’s repertoire,” she said.

The Alpha Chi National College Honor Society sponsors the event. Dr. Rebekah Crowe, professor of history and dean of the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences, supported the effort from concept to execution, helping connect students with academic leaders across campus.

The evening also includes a reception with free food provided by Alpha Chi and live music by Dr. Anthony J. King, director of athletic bands and associate professor of instrumental studies in the School of Creative Arts. The reception takes place in the choral rehearsal area in the Harral Complex.

The Bridging 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ Student Lecture Series is free and open to the public. The event will be livestreamed.
