GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Coordinator of Student Activities is an integral part of the Student Services, which serves to strengthen and renew students for their daily tasks, to build a spirit of Christian community on the campus and to provide students with a leadership forum for enhancing classroom learning. The Assistant Coordinator of Student Activities will work in cooperation with the Coordinator of Student Activities to achieve these purposes.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Dean of Students and the Coordinator of Student Activities, the applicant shall perform the following duties on Monday –Thursday from 8:15 am- 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:15 am-4:00 pm. (hours will include & may vary depending on late night and evening events):
Work with Coordinator of Student Activities to design, prepare and implement a comprehensive student activities program for the university, channeling students' time, talents and energies in a wide variety of co-curricular activities
- Serves as a key resource for students' social and leadership development
- Works with Coordinator of Student Activities to plan, promote and carry out all campus student activities
- Works with the Coordinator of Student Activities to perform the following duties in relation to the Student Union Board:
- Manage SUB budget;
- Advise SUB on intended activities and events;
- Assist the SUB President when needed;
- Attend SUB meetings and activities
- Works with the Coordinator of Student Activities to perform the following duties in relation to the Student Government Association:
- Managing SGA budget;
- Advising SGA on intended activities and events;
- Assist the SGA President when needed;
- Attending SGA meetings and activities
- Works with the Coordinator of Student Activities to perform the following duties in relation to the Council of Student Organizations:
- Managing the CSO's budget, which includes overseeing funds transferred from SGA;
- Assisting the CSO President when needed;
- Unofficially serving as an ex-officio member of every campus organization;
- Attending CSO meetings and activities
- Assists the Coordinator of Student Activities in the planning, promotion and production of WBU's new student orientation program and is involved with other orientation activities
- Provides support for all Student Services programs
- Helps formulate or implement policies related to Office of Student Activities, Pete’s Place and Student Organizations
- Provides expert advice regarding Student Activities to Directors, Deans and Administration related to Office of Student Activities, Pete’s Place and Student Organizations
- Resolves problems as they arise related to the Office of Student Activities, Pete’s Place and Student Organizations
- Supervises student workers in the office of Student Activities, as well as in Pete’s Place
- Performs and supervises all administrative tasks in the office of Student Activities such as filling out and filing budget requisitions, overseeing expenditures in the budget, facilitating student worker timesheets and any additional administrative tasks required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Experience and Knowledge: Preferred
- Two (2) years experience in event planning
- Two (2) years experience working with college students
- Two (2) years administrative assistant experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in operating a personal computer and in using a variety of software applications; particularly Access, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to plan long range and have the willingness to be hands on related to the duties of this position.
- Ability to utilize good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate problems and use good judgment in developing solutions.
- Must be willing to work with other departments and individuals.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Be a self-starter, self-motivated and possess the ability to conceptualize processes.
- Ability to contribute to the spiritual, intellectual and social life of each student who attends WBU.
- Adhere to the ethical and moral standards of the University.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the goals and lifestyle of Christian Higher Education and will help plan and participate in activities which develop leadership skills and reinforce Christian values.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and teach at external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
