Visit 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµâ€™s Jimmy Dean Museum before festival on Sept. 5

PLAINVIEW —Visitors attending the annual Jimmy Dean Festival on Friday, Sept. 5, are encouraged to stop by the Jimmy Dean Museum, located inside The Mabee on the campus of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, giving festival guests an opportunity to explore the legacy of one of Plainview’s most famous sons.

The Jimmy Dean Museum celebrates the life and career of the legendary country singer, television personality, actor, and businessman. Known worldwide for his 1961 hit song Big Bad John and for founding the Jimmy Dean Sausage Company, Dean’s influence stretched far beyond music. His variety show, The Jimmy Dean Show, helped introduce audiences to country music and launched the career of Jim Henson’s Muppets.

Exhibits inside the museum include memorabilia from Dean’s entertainment career, artifacts from his business ventures, and personal items that highlight his impact on both popular culture and his hometown of Plainview. The museum also shares the story of Dean’s enduring generosity, including his support of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University and the Plainview community.

The Jimmy Dean Museum is one of three museums housed in The Mabee at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ. The facility also features the Flying Queens Museum, celebrating the storied women’s basketball program, and the Museum of the Llano Estacado, which highlights the history and culture of the region.

Admission to the Jimmy Dean Museum is free, and all are welcome.
