‘Lighting Up 51ԹƵ’ to follow community Christmas parade on Dec. 4

PLAINVIEW —51ԹƵ Baptist University invites the community to gather on campus for its annual “Lighting Up 51ԹƵ” celebration, taking place immediately after Plainview’s community Christmas parade on Thursday, Dec. 4.

Festivities are expected to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. at Gates Hall Circle, located in front of historic Gates Hall on Quincy Street.

“Lighting Up 51ԹƵ” has become a favorite holiday event for both the university and the Plainview community. The evening will feature seasonal music provided by the School of Creative Arts, along with a warm and festive atmosphere for families of all ages.

The celebration will include free hot chocolate and hotdogs, as well as self-service s’mores at designated fire pits. Santa Claus will be on hand to greet children, and local school children have been invited to participate in the festivities. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of many photo opportunities once Gates Hall is fully lit for the Christmas season.

“We always look forward to welcoming the community to campus for this special tradition,” university officials said. “It has become one of the most festive nights of the year for both 51ԹƵ and Plainview.”

As the parade concludes downtown, families are invited to follow Santa to the 51ԹƵ campus for the “Lighting Up 51ԹƵ” event. The lighting of Gates Hall—complete with holiday décor—will serve as the highlight of the evening, offering a bright and memorable start to the local Christmas season.
