Position Summary
The Assistant Dean of Student Conduct & Community Standards provides leadership for the University’s student conduct system, behavioral intervention efforts, and community standards enforcement while advancing a holistic, faith-informed approach to student development. The Assistant Dean is responsible for ensuring that student conduct processes are equitable, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with institutional values, applicable laws, and best practices in higher education.

In addition to serving as the University’s student conduct officer, the Assistant Dean provides leadership oversight for key student engagement initiatives that foster belonging, persistence, and character formation. This role partners closely with Academic Affairs, Campus Safety, Health Services, and other campus stakeholders to promote a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Conduct & Community Standards
• Serve as the University’s primary administrator for student conduct and community standards, ensuring fair, timely, and consistent resolution of non-academic misconduct.
• Oversee all aspects of the student conduct process, including intake, investigation, hearings, sanctions, appeals, and record management.
• Ensure student conduct practices align with institutional policy, due process principles, and current best practices in higher education.
• Train and guide judicial council members.
• Chair or designate leadership for student conduct hearings involving complex, high-risk, or sensitive matters.
• Serve as the student grievance officer for all non-academic concerns.
• Review, revise, and implement student life policies; ensure the accurate, timely updating and publication of the Student Handbook.
• Maintain confidential student records and ensure compliance with privacy and records-retention standards.
Behavioral Intervention, Care, & Campus Safety
• Collaborate with University Police, Counseling Services, and other partners to assess risk and implement appropriate interventions.
• Serve as an active member of the University CARE Team and participate in coordinated student support efforts.
• Contribute to campus crisis response planning and post-incident follow-up as needed.

Student Engagement & Development
• Provide leadership oversight for Student Engagement initiatives that promote student involvement, persistence, and faith-informed development.
• Supervise professional staff overseeing student activities, social clubs, and recognized student organizations.
• Serve as advisor to the Student Government Association.
• Oversee the planning and execution of new student orientation programs (Koinonia).
• Encourage student participation in shared governance and institutional decision-making, as appropriate.

Leadership, Administration, & Collaboration
• Supervise directors and/or assistant directors within assigned areas, including hiring, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.
• Manage fiscal resources for supervised functional areas and ensure responsible budget oversight.
• Work collaboratively with Academic Affairs to support curricular and co-curricular initiatives that integrate faith and learning.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to support publications, marketing strategies, and web content related to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ.
• Assist the Vice President with strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement for the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ division.
• Serve on University committees as assigned.

On‑Call & Institutional Responsibilities
• On-call for student emergencies, including evenings and weekends, as required.
• Adhere to University personnel policies, safety guidelines, and ethical standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Athletics/51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ.

Supervisory Responsibilities
• Provides direct supervision for professional staff within Student Engagement and related functional areas.
• Oversees performance management, professional development, and accountability aligned with University mission and goals.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated experience administering student conduct processes, managing sensitive cases, and exercising sound judgment under pressure.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of contemporary student conduct theory, restorative and educational disciplinary practices, and behavioral intervention models.
• Experience working with threat assessment or behavioral intervention teams.
• Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and counseling skills with students and families.
• Ability to interpret and apply institutional policy with fairness, consistency, and discretion.
• Commitment to faith-based student development within the university's institutional context.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage budgets, and lead collaboratively.

Work Environment
• Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
• Noise level is generally moderate.
• Some evening, weekend, and irregular hours are required.

Additional Information
• Exempt, salaried, full-time staff position.
• Valid Class C driver’s license and insurable driving record required.
• Occasional travel required to support University functions and professional development.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license or have access to reliable transportation. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
