51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ

Dear Freshman Me

As seniors wrap up their final year at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ, it is important to gather some wisdom from them before they move on. The Trailblazer asked several graduating seniors to write a letter to the freshman version of themselves.

The senior featured in this story is Trinity Davis, a graduating senior with a 4.0 GPA earning a B.A. in Humanities with a minor in Art.

Underclassmen and incoming freshmen can gain valuable insight from her experience. Here is what Trinity would say to her freshman self:

Dear Freshman me,

I know that coming to college is scary, with being so far away from family, but don’t get discouraged. So many things are coming that will change your life forever. You will begin getting involved at the end of your freshman year, doing more for 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ than you thought you would. In your sophomore year, you will find God, become a Christian, get baptized, and start dating the person who will be your future husband. Remember, stay involved! Get those endowed scholarships that 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ alumni have generously given to students who are finding their way into adulthood. College is stressful; make sure to take care of yourself. Take breaks. I promise it will be okay to do so, and you will go back to those assignments stronger. You might think you are too busy to take time to do things you enjoy, but you are not. Read that book you want to read, pick up a new hobby, hang out with friends, just enjoy this new season of life. Another thing: you do not even realize how much easier college is with just staying organized in notes, so remember to keep it up, go to the professor's office hours, and utilize the help!

This new life that you have at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓƵ is different from home, but do not be afraid of that growth in your life; make new friends and attend events. Once you become a Christian freshman me, you will understand just how important your church family is. I promise you will end up helping so many people with your story. So, keep that relationship with God open, and help those in need. Once you surround yourself with fellow believers and lean on others’ kindness and friendship, you will see that change in yourself as well.

Be strong in your faith, keep your stress low, and love others.

Love,

Senior you.

The Trailblazer would like to thank Trinity Davis for writing this story.
