International Doctoral Admissions Specialist

LOCATION: 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University (WBU) – Plainview Campus 

DEPARTMENTS: International Program Operations and Graduate Studies 

SUPERVISED BY: Assistant Executive Director of International Program Operations

                              in conjunction with Graduate Studies Office

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt 

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The International Admissions Specialist will support in the graduate admissions process, specifically as it relates to the processing of international PhD applications.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: 

  1. Primarily responsible for processes related to international graduate students seeking the PhD in Management in all specializations that are applicable for international students.
  2. Assist with additional processing of applications and transcripts of students seeking international graduate admission.
  3. Administer graduate admission guidelines as set forth in the general catalog.
  4. Prepare admission notifications and update the new applicant and fully accepted databases with timely distribution to constituents.
  5. Effectively interact and professionally communicate with potential and current students, as well all campus employees.
  6. Report to the Assistant Executive Director and Director of Graduate Studies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by Texas Baptists/Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÊÓÆµ Baptist University in particular.

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of completed degree.

Experience and Knowledge:

Two (2) years of progressive office or related experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Sound recordkeeping practices; Academic (spec. higher education) policy, procedures, and processes

Skills in:

Computer operations; Transfer credit evaluation (when applicable); and prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines; Customer service/ability to maintain good relations on the phone, in person, and online to provide office support (this requires common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, and empathy).

Ability to:

1.Work independently and prioritize tasks.

2.Be detail oriented and accurate.

3.Advance computer application skills.

4.Convey outstanding communication skills both oral and written.

5.Retrieve, organize, understand, and analyze data.

6.Show initiative and self-discipline to organize and conduct projects independently.

7.Work successfully with others to accomplish the goals of the institution.

 Hybrid/Online Work Environment: The office work environment for this position is a standard office setting. Employees will work primarily at a desk or workstation, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.  The office maintains a controlled temperature.  Noise levels are generally moderate, with typical office sounds such as conversations and office machinery. 

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to pass background check which may include Credit Check.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and teach at external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
