Master of Arts History
A Master’s degree in History immerses students in a mix of readings and seminar courses ranging from Ancient Mediterranean to Terrorism. With areas of focus in U.S. West, American, World, and Applied History, students are prepared for a career in a history-based field. Choosing the thesis track also provides students with the opportunity to pursue further graduate studies.
Along with six hours of required foundational courses, one required research seminar, and the comprehensive examination, students may select the remainder of their coursework: 27 hours for non-thesis track or 21 hours for thesis track. Students interested in a career in public history may choose the Applied History specialization, which delineates a more specific pathway designed to provide specialized training.
